Installing the app

Download the installer, run it, and let the app connect your PC.

Diagnosly Personal runs on Windows 10 and 11. It has two parts you install together: the app you use, and a small background service that does the investigating on your PC. The installer sets up both.

Install

  1. Sign in at diagnosly.app and open the Get started page.
  2. Choose Download for Windows and run the downloaded .msi file.
  3. Windows may show Windows protected your PC. That is expected: the installer isn't code-signed yet, so Windows doesn't know the publisher. Choose More info, then Run anyway. If there is no Run anyway option, right-click the downloaded file, choose Properties, tick Unblock, and run it again.
  4. Open Diagnosly Personal from the Start menu and sign in.

Check your download (optional)

The Get started page shows the SHA-256 hash of the current installer. To check your copy, open PowerShell in the folder with the installer and run:

Get-FileHash .\Diagnosly*.msi -Algorithm SHA256

The value should match the one on the page. If it doesn't, download the installer again and don't run the first copy.

First launch: connecting your PC

The first time the app opens it shows Setting up your PC and works through these steps:

  1. Waiting for the Windows permission prompt
  2. Registering this PC with your account
  3. Installing the background service
  4. Starting the service
  5. Waiting for this PC to come online

Approve the Windows permission prompt when it appears. It can open behind the app window, so check the taskbar. The screen updates by itself once your PC comes online, usually within a minute.

If setup doesn't finish, the app says why in plain words and offers Try again or Manual install. See Troubleshooting.

One PC per account

An account is tied to one Windows PC. If you reinstall Windows or reopen the app on the same PC, use Reconnect this PC and the old entry is replaced. A PC you no longer use is cleaned up automatically after a while.

If you've bought a new computer with a different name, the app can't swap it automatically. Email support@diagnosly.app and we'll move it for you.

Running in the background

Closing the window hides the app to the system tray instead of quitting it. Use Quit in the tray menu to close it for good. In Settings, Start with Windows (off by default) opens the app minimised to the tray when you sign in to Windows.

Uninstalling

Uninstall Diagnosly Personal from Windows Settings, under Apps. That also removes the background service. It doesn't close your account or touch your credits. See Your data and deleting your account.

Keeping it up to date

Both parts update themselves. See App updates.
