What it can change, and how you approve it

Diagnosly reads freely but only changes your PC with your approval. How the plan card works and what protects you.

Diagnosly looks at your PC freely, because looking changes nothing. It never changes anything without your approval.

Read-only and changes

Every command is screened on your PC first and falls into one of three groups:

Group What happens
Looks read-only Runs automatically.
Changes your PC Waits until you approve it in a plan.
Never allowed Refused, even if you approved a plan. This covers reading saved passwords, running hidden or downloaded code, switching off security software, deleting logs or backups, and sending your files out.

The screening is a safety net, not a guarantee. Your approval and your restore point are the main protections.

The plan card

When Diagnosly wants to change something it shows plan ready with a numbered list. Each step has a title, a description, read only or changes, a risk level, and recommended if Diagnosly suggests it. Recommended steps start ticked.

Tick the steps you want and press Approve selected. Only the ticked steps run. Cancel stops without changing anything.

You can also type a note, for example "I use Hotspot Shield, but fix it if it's causing problems", and press Send note to reply without approving anything. Tick Remember this for next time to keep a short note in Settings, under About you.

Safety net

If the plan changes your PC, the card shows a Safety net:

  • Create a Windows restore point first is ticked by default. It can take a few minutes. Untick it to start straight away, but then Windows recovery can't undo these changes.
  • Back up now takes a backup on the spot. A backup from the last 10 minutes already counts, so no new restore point is needed.

See Backups and restore points.

One step at a time

Tick Run one step at a time and Diagnosly does the first step you picked, then asks again before the next.

Spending checkpoints

If a diagnosis pauses at a spending checkpoint partway through a plan, it needs your approval again before it changes anything more.

Checked on your PC afterwards

Some steps say Checked afterwards with what Diagnosly will look for. After it has changed your PC, Diagnosly runs a read-only check itself for each step you approved, rather than taking the AI's word that it worked. The result shows under Checked on your PC, one line per step:

  • Confirmed: the check passed.
  • Did not work: the check failed. Diagnosly gets one more chance to repair it and checks again.
  • Could not confirm: no check was available or it couldn't run. Check it yourself.

When it asks if it worked

After a fix, a card can ask you to check a few things and answer Working or Still broken. Still broken gives it one more attempt.

AI suggestions can be wrong. Approve only what you're comfortable with.
